At first they were the sweetest thing in the world. You would say, “David give me a kiss.” And he would lay his cheek against yours. First on one side then the other.

Then he figured out the lips and mouth were somehow involved, and he would give you a big open mouthed slobber which you had to surreptitiously wipe off. And they were the sweetest things in the world.

Now, he’s got the pucker figured out. When he bangs his knee he says, “Owie!” and smacks his lips together which obviously means, please kiss my owie and make it better. His favorite person to kiss is Maisy. He finds her behind the door in the big flap book and gives her at least three kisses—Charley and Tallulah only warrant one a piece. He kisses his babydoll and would very much like to kiss random babies we meet at storytime. And when you say, “David, give me a kiss,” he smacks one on you, and it is the sweetest thing in the world.
