I have certainly used this venue to rant against bad public service, so let me take a moment to praise a job well done.

My insurance agent came exactly when he said he would. He was easy to talk to, praised the steps I’d taken, and talked me through his process. He gave me credit for the hours I, my sister, and friend had put in to the point that it covered our deductible. He wrote, what seemed to me, a fair estimate for the work that needed to be done, including the maybe work like ripping out the flooring in the kitchen. And then, he handed me a big check to cover it all. Are you following? My only expense will be the plumber, and I have a check before the work people rip up the carpet.

Calling an insurance agent feels like a Catch-22—they pay for today’s problem but raise your rates and possibly drop you. He reassured me. If it had only been 1,000.00 worth of damage, don’t bother with insurance, but at the 4,000.00 I hit, that’s what insurance is for. And he told me all the work was worth it; I had saved the carpet.

Thank you Max. Thank you Allied.
