It's going amazingly well.

He likes to gather at least five toys for the car, but otherwise, does not delay our departure. He balks a little as we cross the classroom threshold, but otherwise, has no problem with settling into the class and my leaving. He does not freak out and throw himself at me when I arrive though he is definitely ready to go. And he spends the rest of the day cheerful though I have been hearing "Me a little bit tired" the last couple of days.

Of course, all is not perfect. He basically spends his indoor time looking at books. This rings completely true for me. I find books very reassuring and stabilizing. Rose was so into books at his age that she took them to bed as her comfort object. We used to have to balance three of them on top of her tummy. I'm glad he's found something that feels safe in this foreign environment. Monday he headed straight for the books. Today when I left he was playing with the colored stacking pegs, so he's already venturing out.

He's not venturing too far though. They've been having internal field trips to the bunnies downstairs or the apple tree in the front yard. He has refused to go. I'm glad they don't insist and drag him down the stairs yelling and screaming.

He must have a really good sense of time because he gets anxious for me about 10 minutes before I get there.

They still don't have a head teacher, but I feel the associate is stepping up. And she has endeared herself to me by going out and buying gluten-free chocolate cookies for birthday treat days. She's obviously thinking.
