Ok, this is really the sort of bragging that you should only do for the grandparents, so the rest of you are welcome to plug your ears.

I showed up at school on Friday and David wasn't out on the playground. He was inside with a teacher doing a puzzle. They were doing their assessments. She looked at me in astonishment. "This is a 35 piece puzzle. We are supposed to assess whether they can do a 5-6 piece puzzle. He is doing this by himself. He's categorizing, using deduction. . .this is impressive."

This was actually a little lesson to me because I'm still handing David two matching pieces and telling him, "See if these fit together." Obviously, he's been taking big leaps behind my back.

And while we are on the subject of big leaps, at David's school they have a sign in sheet for his class. This is an easy erase board with all their names printed in block letters. Every day David comes in and covers his name and entire box in blue. Friday, with no prompting from me, he traced his name. I didn't know he had the motor control for that, let alone the interest.
