Dan Zanes holiday concert

Wow! I think this was the best holiday party concert I've ever been to. Dan Zanes is a children's folk artist in the tradition of Pete Seeger not The Wiggles. His music has joy and grit. I'm particularly fond of his version of "Pay Me My Money Down."

This show was billed as a holiday concert, so I figured like all winter festival and holiday concerts, it would have 2 bad Hannukah songs and the rest would range from cheesy Christmas to holy Christmas. Not that I object to cheesy or holy Christmas music, I just don't like pretending the show is ecumenical.

This one was. There were Mexican Christmas songs, Ladeno Hannukah songs, Korean New Year's songs, Middle Eastern party songs, African dance songs, and I lost track of all the different cultures up there on the stage having so much fun together.

We did a lot of singing along and dancing. And David was rapt. This is a big deal since I was sure we were going to spend the concert in the lobby. But I forgot there would be drums. David totally digs drums.
