"Don't run on the ice!" Not words that usually come out of my mouth here in balmy Seattle.

Saturday night it snowed, in that kind of Seattle desultory way. But Sunday the temperature dropped to the 20's and stayed down. Wacko! For the last two days we've been woken by the answering machine taking the school's automated calls. It is really strange to hear a voice in your house at 5:45. Weird and annoying—I can get the news from the radio.

So, we had no Sunday school, school has started two hour late the last two days, and a big snow is predicted for tomorrow. In other words, I doubt there will be any more school this week.

So far, we are doing ok. On Sunday, we did the typical Seattle thing and tried to cram a winter's worth of fun into one day. We made snow balls, snow angels, played hide and seek in the snow, knocked the snow off the plants, swept the snow off the steps, scraped the snow off the car, and tried, with little success to sled.

Thank goodness for neighbors with kids. Rose went on a walk with the next door neighbor, and David played with the across the street neighbor. We also took hot baths, drank hot cocoa, and hung out in front of a hot fire.

Tomorrow, I'm planning sledding and cookie making. But I need more to make it through the week. Got any snow day suggestions?
