because he's done.

David is absolutely and completely done with diapers. We are on day four with no accidents. Not that there won't be some down the road, but each day of success shows David that he can do it. We've taken away the changing pad and put up the mirror that's been waiting to go over his bureau. I would like to point out that David did this on his own. John and I get credit for waiting patiently. David gets credit for getting over his fear of failure (which he basically told me) and doing it full out.

John and I still have potty stress in our life. There's the stress of remembering to remind him to go, the stress of coming up with creative ways to entice him into the bathroom (hey David, I don't think Mommom knows about that cool flap in your underpants. Why don't you go show her), and, of course, the stress of him saying no and worrying about what will happen next. But I'm hoping in a month or so even this will smooth itself out.

Interestingly, although potty training will make my life much easier in the long run, there's been another much smaller change that is making my life easier right now--no buckling the stroller. A couple days ago I realized that Daddy wasn't buckling David in the stroller. Great, if we hit a bump and he falls out, I'll kiss the scrape. David never actually fought me about buckling, but my back hated all the bending over, and then David would want to get in and out of the stroller, so I was constantly redoing. Hurrah for little kids getting bigger.
