We have a rule about no reading at the dinner table, but David was sick tonight, so we reverted back to our natural state:

David and I snuggled on the couch and I read him Puff the Magic Dragon and Just in Case.

Rose sat at the table and ate a quesadilla while reading The Box Car Children.

John sat at the table and ate leftovers from brunch and read Cook's.

Then David and John snuggled on the couch continuing to read Cook's, Rose went back to the couch continuing to read The Box Car Children while I sat at the table, ate leftovers, and read a mystery set in Pittsburgh.

Then Rose decided she was still hungry and came back to table for cheesy bread, still reading The Box Car Children. David decided he needed to be in my lap while I had more leftovers and I kept reading the mystery, and John stayed on the couch with Cook's.

Then after dinner, as it were, David I went back to snuggling on the couch while I read for myself. Rose sat on the other couch, reading for herself, and John went back to work.

You see why we need this rule.
