Rose had absolutely no summer weather clothes. Well, she has a drawer full of hand-me-down t-shirts, but no shorts, skorts, summer jammies, or sandals. And, it's been hot. Thank goodness, John has been slowly rectifying this. He's been shopping, and Rose has actually been approving his selections. So, if you see Rose in her new hot pink shorts or her green and brown skort, you have John to thank.

She's reading all the time. Poor Rose made the wrong decision tonight. Half the gang went out to the local bookstore for a school event, but Rose was nearing the end of her book and chose not to go. Then she finished her book and freaked out because she was missing the big event. Yup, books can suck you in like that. At the moment, she's reading Happy Hollisters, the A to Z mysteries, and The Box Car Children. These are all chapter books with lots and lots of books in the series.

Rose was nice to David today. This is not always the case, but when Rose saw David at pick-up she gave him a big hug. Then he wanted to hold her hand crossing streets and she let him. She's just learned that if she reads books to him, she gets a sticker for her summer reading chart and he gets one for his, so stay tuned for that.

She has a crush on J. She told me yesterday. We already knew because she's always talking about him. She told Eliot, but made him pinky promise he wouldn't tell anybody. However, I think at least half the class knows, including J. He's a third grader by the way. Luckily, he seems to be taking it in stride and being very sweet about it. I know this because she showed off David's hat to him yesterday, and he nodded and smiled.
