David was in a very huggy mood today, and the only way I could unload the groceries was to stop for a great big hug after I emptied each bag.

I went out for dim sum for the first time since Rose was an infant. I remember nursing her as I sat around the big table with the aikido crowd. This time it was just me, John, and Deirdre. The food was excellent, and it was so much fun to be out on the town.

In most of the underwear I buy these days, for myself or the kids, they've replaced the tag with stamped info in the back. You can still use the info to orient yourself as you are dressing, but you don't get that annoying itch. Rose thinks it's way cool too.

Rose snuggled up with David reading him The Frog Wore Red Suspenders, poetry by Jack Prelutsky. Granted, she was doing it because the library summer reading club lets you count books you read aloud to someone else, even if the books are below your reading level, and Rose is obsessed with getting her chart filled out as fast as possible which means forgoing longer books, but it is poetry, and it is very sweet.

At my twenty-fifth high school reunion that I went to Friday, I was chatting with someone who struck gold in the dot com bubble and then parlayed it into a very successful restaurant business. I told him that I was a stay-at-home mom and wrote poetry. He said he envied how rich a life that gave me. I said yes, it was soul satisfying.
