dancing, dancing, dancing: On Tuesdays, I go blues dancing at Waid's. The teaching is bad, but the dancing is good. Wednesdays, John and I are currently taking a waltz class. We almost didn't because waltz is our least favorite so far, but it's been a revelation. I'm finally getting the left hand turn. No more tripping. Saturday afternoons, we have our swing dance performance class. I love the fact that the class is geared for more advanced people and the choreography and music are great. However, John and I both agree that we prefer actually dancing as opposed to learning a set piece. This is our third performance class, and we won't be taking another for awhile. On Saturday nights, John and I often go to a dance. And if you've been adding it all up, yes, my babysitting support network is amazing. Thank you Mom, Noemi, Darrel, Dad, Barb, and Sally.

pobiz: So, the kids went back to school, and I was supposed to go back to writing poetry, right? Right. Except, I've taking the easy route and using all that time for pobiz. This means in the last few weeks I've sent off 3 essays, 15 poems, and 1 manuscript. The manuscript was to my mentor, and he ok'd it, so in the next few weeks I'm going to be sending my new poetry manuscript "Learning the Gods" to contests high and low. If you know a good poetry book contest or an editor just dying to publish my work, let me now. I did this whole process 15 years ago with manuscript #1; it bombed. I actually don't freak out about rejection letters. I just get more stuff in the mail. However, I should be writing some poetry.

gardening: I'm not interested in gardening, I don't know what the heck I'm doing, and it hurts my body. Yup, not for me. However, I have a house with a glorious garden and don't want to pay someone to take care of it. (There is no life post Kathleen!) So, I'm taking baby steps as a gardener. I hired Tina to do most of the work and tell me what else needed doing. David and I have been out enjoying the nice weather this week. I cut the dead leaves off the ferns. David digs holes. I mow the lawn. David tells me what other dead leaves need cutting. I cut more dead leaves. David digs more holes. We are making progress.
