It's break and I am acing the play dates. I just put the word out, and funny thing, all the mommies said yes, please. Today, Rose and I dropped David off at school and went to jazzercise where she met up with Luna. Luna is a year older than Rose. They met because their moms work-out together and they go to childcare and play. They play fantastically. They adore each other with lots of big hugs and giggles. They haven't seen each other since the summer, so I asked Luna's mom if I could borrow her for the day. Yup, that worked out.

After jazzercise, I took the girls to the store while I bought cookie supplies. The whole time they made up alternate verses to Jingle Bells, Batman Smells. We had the breakfast version, the classical musical instrument version, the sea mammal version with some discussion whether a polar bear was a sea mammal, and the flower name version.

Then they ran up to Rose's room for a glorious playdate sans David. Playmobile hospital, seamonster, the fun! I started the cookies, picked up David and left John to make them grilled cheese sandwiches. They were not as thrilled to integrate the little brother, but house rules. So, they all put on dress up (David in his spaghetti strap black velvet dress with the superman cape), and played something involving shooting and racing up and down the stairs. I took a nap.

Then, I loaded everyone into the minivan for haircuts. Well, my kids. Rose went first, and Luna turned into big sister extraordinaire. (She is a big sister in real life.) She read book after book to David and raced cars up and down the hall with him.

Their mom showed up at 2:30 and the kids finally parted company at 3:15. That's an almost 6 hour playdate. At which point Rose said, "Can we have someone over this afternoon?"

Stay tuned for tomorrow where we have ice skating, cookie making, and major carpooling.
