David's rash

About the time the weather changed, back in September, David starting getting some little red bumps around the side of his mouth. We figured dry skin and made half-hearted attempts to put Vaseline type substances on it. This was complicated by the fact that David resisted profusely, and we often had to sit on him to get the lotion on. It didn't seem to be doing any good, and, in fact, the rash spread to the other side of his mouth and under his nose. Finally, I decided to go to the doctor because, even though it was obviously not bothering David, it's not the prettiest thing in the world, and I want to get formal photos soon.

Turns out he has acne. Not a rash at all and Vaseline was only going to make it worse. Note to self: if the home remedy doesn't seem to be working and is causing lots of grief, consider getting a professional opinion. David having acne doesn't really shock me. He's always been prone to skin stuff. There is a cure. It involves six weeks of antibiotics. Like right. The doctor also said try the topical antibiotics for a week, unlikely but it might help. So, that's what we are going to do, and touch up the photos.
