When we opened the door for Elijah, I suddenly thought of all my friends, all the Jews all over the world, who were also opening their doors waiting for the messenger of peace to enter, and I felt excited and awed.

I got to be in this quiet moment because the kids were no problem. Ok, David hooted through the first fifteen minutes of the haggadah and right before we were going to serve dinner, Ariana fell off the top bunk, but basically, they were easy peasy. It's exciting to notice them getting older and more independent.

We also added more kid work this year and more gluten-free options. The girls set the table. David made saltwater dipping bowls. Mom, the kids, and I made gluten-free matzah balls—great flavor, a little heavy. John made g-f matzah again, but this year it was actually good. The big girls chanted the four questions, and all the kids sang We Shall Overcome.
