Some family friends are moving out of town, and my mom threw a party for them. Rose and I got to serve. We had such a wonderful time. Rose loved opening the door and greeting the guests. She loved asking everyone what they wanted to drink and remembering to bring them a napkin. She loved clearing the used plates and napkins. And then of course, it was just dandy to be the only child at the party and to make small talk with the grown-ups. The fact that she knew the word "tintinnabulation" and Poe's The Bells was a great party trick.

I happen to like serving (my next career?), and I really liked having some fun Mommy/Rose time before she goes off to camp tomorrow.
