hike to Boulder river waterfall

Another waterfall? David said. Yup, and it was lovely.

Mom, Rose, David, Deirdre, Maggie, and I went north this time towards Arlington. The drive was 1.5 hours and we got lost as we always do (two out of three times have not been our fault), but the driving was much easier than I-90. Lots of cows and horses to look at. Plus, we plugged the kids into the dvd player and all was good. Well, one caveat. The last 3.5 miles were constant potholes on a gravel road. Uggh.

The hike is very easy, a wide trail to begin with and only slight elevation gain before you reach the waterfall at 1.2 miles. The kids had a great time watching out for trolls as they crossed the bridges. This was Maggie's first hike--old growth trees, a river rushing by, and a waterfall like a fairy castle--a wonderful way to start.

The kids hiked down to the river and of course got wet. That's why we have a change of clothes in the car. I think this was the least amount of complaining David has had on a hike. And post hike we stopped for ice cream.
