Greenwood art walk

I know I wrote this exact same entry last year, but what can I say? I love my neighborhood, and I want to shout it out. It is absolutely magical to walk out your front door and have the main drag transformed into play space. No cars. Lots of art and bubbles and people drawing with chalk. This year's highlights were the communal sing-a-long, led by a Swat grad. Yes, we used Rise Up Singing. I sang. I also got my first henna tattoo (free!), watched the aerialists, and added yet another bag to the collection.

Yet again, the streets were filled with people I knew. From the woman who chats with me while our kids take gymnastics to the woman who was in my new baby group 9 years ago. Tons of neighbors, elementary school friends, my sister, and a guy I know from blues dancing who happened to be there as part of a wedding party. The whole thing reminded me of how the University Street Fair used to be 30 years ago--easy to walk through and full of creative magical energy.
