1. David ate too much snack at school.

Snack at school is parceled out. You get 5 pretzel sticks or three orange quarters or whatever. Unless you have an allergy or intolerance, and then you bring your own food. We were supposed to write a number on each little tub of cereal or bunny cookies telling David how many of each he could have, but I kind of didn't bother. Then David started needing refills every other day and feeling too sick to eat his lunch. Hmm. . . We are in the process of negotiating exactly how much snack he can have, and it really is a negotiation. He is not whining or freaking out. We are not threatening or freaking out. And, we figured out that he wasn't sick.

2. Rose has a dragon on her face

We went to Folklife last week-end and had a good time. It's not perfect going with the kids because I would just like to dance the whole time, but we have created rituals like running in the fountain or getting face paint, and the kids have gotten to the point where they really look forward to going. I love that Rose noticed all the smells (she picked up on the kebabs not the pot). I started going to Folklife by myself around 15 or 16. We aren't that far away.

3. We sold cookies at the yard sale.

Finally, finally I remembered the neighborhood yard sale week-end. Rose has been dying to have yard sale for two years. That means for two years, we've been keeping a box of her junk in the storage room. Yard sale is a big project--choose the stuff, price the stuff, set the stuff up, sit with the stuff, pitch the stuff, accept money for the stuff.

David got stuck on step one. He flipped out and wanted to sell his pink magic wand and other precious treasures. When I refused to let him, he freaked out before. Note: no decisions the day of.

Note: sell cookies instead of stuff. David and John made cookies the night before, and they sold out. Most of the stuff did not sell. John and I went off to dance class, and we suggested Mom take David to the library, so Rose monitored the sales table herself. That went well.

4. We performed at Folklife

That we is me and John. We were part of Left Foot Boogie's performance group. We practiced for 10 2-hour Saturday sessions thanks to lots of babysitting by Mom, and then we got to perform at the Center House. John and I pick up choreography pretty quickly, and we practiced at home, so we had the fun of feeling very confident and enjoying ourselves.
