Jazzercise at the Storm

I have now fulfilled an item on my bucket list--I performed during half-time of a professional team.

We are so lucky here in Seattle to have a freestanding professional women's basketball team. I cannot believe I have never been to see them before. Well, I can believe it because it's expensive, and I am not a huge basketball fan, but I am a fan of seeing amazing athletes and hanging out in women's community. John and I joked that he was going to be the only man at the basketball game, but that wasn't true. The fans were about 30% male. Definitely women's community.

I was a little worried that jazzercise dancers with our jazz hands and hip swivels would look a little silly compared to the professional athletes making jump shots, but then I realized we were like cheerleaders--there to make everyone happy.

I love the energy that comes from getting ready to perform. Everyone was talking: is it turn on the first four beats? Hand up or down? I love that the details matter. And then we got out there boogied to the beat. We looked good. All 100 of us in our blue scoop necked shirts moving in sync. We looked good. We felt good. We did ourselves proud.
