the last day of school

Rose, David, and I walked to school talking about middle school. How do you work a lock? Will Mr. Millsap be there for David when he gets to middle school? Even though we were sad, it was nice to see them focusing on the next step.

David and I had a bad interaction during the day. I came, at the teacher's request to his poetry reading, and he was not thrilled to have me there. But, I took a long nap and got over it.

All the K-1 parents blew bubbles as the kids walked out of the building. It was a very sweet, age appropriate, end of year celebration. We found Rose's lunchbox but not her sweatshirt. Then we had our annual end of year ice cream sundae making party. Really, a great tradition.

We had barely got home from that when we went out again to graduation party. It was just the right size. Some 5th grade girls and their families. These are parents we've now known between 1 and 6 years, so we are easy with each other and have a good time. The girls ate gluten-free pizza and made paper dresses for each other.

I actually ended the day not emotionally or physically exhausted. Nice.
