the Bagley progressive dinner

As a fundraiser for the school, four families offered to host part of a progressive dinner, and twenty-four people signed up to attend. We were leg three of the dinner.

It took a lot of planning, mostly on John's part, to organize a 45 minute dinner party for 24. We served hurricanes and gumbo. Do you sense the New Orleans theme? No reason, we just felt like it. We also played zydeco for the event.

John made a practice run of the food two weeks ago, and then cooked solid all day yesterday. I ran around moving the furniture, sweeping, sweeping again, and hiding the coats. A friend declared it the cleanest she had ever seen my house. We had a couple friends come over to help plate. I felt like Top Chef with twenty seconds to go.

It was really fun to use every wine glass in the house and have people on the porch enjoying the fabulous weather. The gumbo was delicious, of course, and I'm just sorry we didn't scurry down the hill to join the last house for dessert which also looked great.
