That drama camp that Rose didn't love? Well, they gave her a free ticket to a middle school production of Singing in the Rain, and she really really wanted to go. We couldn't go last night because she had a friend spend the night. We couldn't go tomorrow afternoon because I am in an all day meeting, and there was no way John was going. That left tonight. Driving downtown. After a day swimming and managing kid drama. To a kid production. Have I ever mentioned that I am not a fan of kid productions? Even when my kid is in them, I wince and close my eyes, and I did not know a single soul in this one.

We went. The traffic was actually fine. I found fabulous parking despite all the streets around the theater being blocked off. We got there on time. I was not thrilled about spending 10.00 for my ticket, but I just need to think about it as a donation. And the show was only 55 minutes.

It was fine. Yes, I did cringe on occasion and close my eyes to suffer better through most of the songs, but the timing was ok. That's the part I hate the most, waiting for the next person to remember their line. Rose had a great time and recognized someone from her English class. In teaching writing we talk about the importance of seeing models close to your ability level, not just professional ones. I figured this was the same for her drama aspirations. She thanked me sincerely. I am racking up my Mommy points.
