sick David

The good news is David is now healthy. The even better news is he managed not to get sick until the last bat mitzvah event. He had to miss the brunch, but by some miracle he didn't come down with the Daniel Bagley stomach bug until after services and the big party. But oy did he come down with it.

Most of our friends' kids seemed to have recovered in 11 hours. David was over bout one by then. He even revived enough to play some games and go out to dinner with the visiting grandparents, but his system crashed again the next day when we had a 4 hour drive for a multi-family vacation planned. I called the consulting health nurse and my expert Nancy (now with a Ph.D. in epidemiology), and between the two of them, we got him functional enough to get in the car.

He watched Spiderman and visited several seedy gas station bathrooms. The most ridiculous moment was when he had to throw up, we were pulled over at the gas station, and I couldn't figure out how to unlock the car doors on my dad's car, which we were driving. We solved it.

That first day at Lake Chelan he went upstairs to take a shower before getting in the pool and fell asleep for 13 hours. The second day my dad volunteered to stay with him while the rest of us went to the waterpark. David was so uncomfortable he didn't even cry about missing the slides. And the next day he was 90% better. Almost a week. Poor bunny.

So far none of the rest of us have succumbed.
