David has spent the night at his grandparents' houses countless times, but he has never spent the night without his sister at a friend's house. Until last night. It was a riproaring success. He and these brothers get along extremely well, the parents consulted with me about gluten-free, and everyone was asleep post Smurf movie by about 10:15. The mama lay down with them to help it along, which is exactly what I would do. We expected a certain level of grumpiness from the shortened sleep, but he's spent most of today listening to music from our ipods and reading Harry Potter happily by himself. We're going to keep having these events and by next summer--sleepaway camp!
