Yellow Paint and Stuff.

It took a long time for the People to paint my den. They started weeks ago. Did I mention it has been raining? The People say they can’t paint in the rain, so I lived for weeks with paint and stuff in my way. Newspapers. Brushes and cans. I have been careful not to wag my tail near an open can of paint, believe you me. The last thing I need is a yellow tail. That’s the color. It’s very yellow.

The People got me a new sofa and chair and big rollie thing that I can run across the den and fly up on. I feel like Superdog when I do that. All the new stuff is yellow, too. And there’s yellow tulips. Nobody seems to notice how yellow it all is but me. I notice everything. Even when I seem to be asleep, I notice things. Like Coyote yapping in the grove a few houses away. Like Rat running down a branch near the window. Like Rottweiler I and Rottweiler II across the street pacing in their Rotty Run.

Labrador doesn’t notice much these days. She sleeps most of the time. Poodle is blind and doesn’t notice Cat walking in front of her face, but she always smells him a few seconds after he’s passed, and she takes out after him like he’s still there. Cat notices where Poodle is. But I am the only one who notices everything, like yellow paint and stuff. It’s surely a good thing that I am around.
