Grandma's Journal
My Journal

I became a Grandma at the age of 49 years old. Well I was actually only 17 days from being 50. My baby girl gave me gave me my first grandchild. He was a beautiful bouncy boy. Then 2 years later she surprised me on my birthday at 5am by waking me up and telling me "Happy Birthday Mom!" Time to get up we are going to the hospital and having a baby today! I told her NO that's tomorrow. It took a little bit for her to get it through my groggy head that she was going to be giving me a birthday present! and she totally did. She gave me a dark hair beautiful little grand daughter. Now I can enjoy spoiling 2. I have decided that the best thing in the world is being a Grandma! There is nothing that come close to that! I have been married for 30 years to a man that lives for his family. He only wants the best for all of us and spoils us all! He is a good man that works hard for his dollar. We have a pretty good marriage to say the least. Well it must be if we can put up with each others faults this long! My mom who has Alzehimers lives with us and has been for almost 3 years now. She is in the finally stages of the disease and still hangs in there. She loves to grab the broom and sweep. She does this everyday, and several times a day. I keeps her busy. She will even sweep the counch or the kitchen table if you let her. My oldest daughter is going to be 34 years old this year and hasn't lived at home in 16 years. I spend as must time as I can with her. But it is never enough. She plans on coming home to live and take care of us in 7 years. I cant wait! It's my dream to have her home. She is a dear friend to me and we have a great relationship. she always tells me that I am her best friend.

I love Lighthouses, and I collect them. I added a beautiful homemade lighthouse quilt to my collection in November 2008. A friend of my oldest daughter made it for me, and she did a beautiful job. I will treasure it always.

Let's talk about refrigrators

Let me tell you about our refrigrator! the day that my Mom and your Neil went in for their surgeries, my Neil and I fell into buying a 1 year old side by side whirpool refrigrator with ice maker and water dispenser on the door...How excited I was...my brother and sister in law were selling theirs as they sold their house and bout a new condo in Pasco, and the new place needed a black refrigrator not a white one, so they sold their other one to us for $600...now here I am thinking, gee I am saving about $800...had my brother measure it, as we had our kitchen cupboards custome made for the kitchen and the other refrigrator we had, which was a little shorter then the normal refrigrators....my brother who also had Dementia measured it and it was the height we needes, so yes we wanted it!!! I come home at 10:15pm that Wednesday night, with my mom, and here is my old refer and the new one sitting in my livingroom with one complete wall cupboard being takend down...I look at my Neil and he says "don't ask" I look at him and I say "the refer is too tall?" he asked who measured it, and I told him my brother did...well he measured from the front face plate to the top...he didn't measure from the floor to the top...he left out 3 inches! so the cupboards had to come out...Then on Friday, Amy and I are shopping at Costco's and my cell phone rings...it's my niece and she is telling me that there is a problem, I ask her what it is...she tellls me that her parents signed the selling contract of the house to include the applicances...and that they need the refer back...I am thinking oh my god, now what, Neil is going to flip his lid!!! but i put a smile on my face, and told them that it was ok...but that they would have to come get it as we were heading out of town on vacation, and neil was on his work week...so I ran home, emptyed the refer, and Bryan started taking the refer out....my sister in law call's me not once but twice, and tell's me she feels like dog doo, and wants me to met them at Sears...so I run out to Sears, and they buy me a brand new one of my choice.... So in the end it worked out great...I am getting my brand new refer today for only $600 only they were nice enought to pay the difference....which was only $300...I still don't have half my cupboards but we will make that work in the near future by cutting the cupboards in half and using only half of them.... You will have to stop by and see my wall! it's a funny story you have to admit!True but funny!
