Books: A Posturing of Fools by Brewster Milton Robertson. So far, this book has been about:
Bosnia (the briefest and most interesting of all the subject matter)
Golf
The Greenbrier
Golf
Incompetent, status-obsessed bosses
A little more golf
“Virecta” (a mythical male enhancement pharmaceutical)
I keep waiting for something – anything - to happen other than relentless descriptions of golf games that have been played, are being played, or will be played. Perhaps I’ve mistaken a marketing brochure for West Virginia’s Greenbrier resort for a novel – the descriptions of the vacation spot are as droolingly revolting as the drivel that spews from the mouth of the venomous Ann Coulter doll. Oh dear. I was trying so hard to keep this a politics-free year. But in case you're interested, you can get her for about $14.99 at discount outlets. A case in which you definitely get what you pay for.

Movies: The Stepford Wives. The first DVD of this Netflix sent me got stuck partway through. I should have taken that as both commentary and warning and not bothered to request a new copy. But I didn’t pay attention and have just spent the past 90 minutes or so and only have one good line to show for it: “Where wouldn’t anyone notice a town full of robots? Connecticut!” A sly reference to the currently-incarcerated maven of homemaking? You decide.
