Today I discovered the iTunes/Vulcan mind-meld interface. I had the headphones plugged into my laptop as I was doing some work and was thinking that I should switch from the usual shuffle play to a selection of instrumental-only music because the lyrics were intruding (Nellie McKay was on and her lyrics (“give me head or you’ll be dead”) cut right through the contents of the presentation I was trying to edit). iTunes apparently tuned in to my brainwaves because the next selection it offered up was one of the Brandenburg Concertos (concerti?). Now if I could only figure out how to reconnect the interface...

This is the representation we in Pennsylvania have in the Senate. Our tax dollars hard at work comparing Democrats to Nazis. Is he that incredibly, unbelievably stupid that he believed no one would notice? Or that this was an ok thing to say? Or that it’s an accurate comparison? The phrase fucking dickhead asshole simply does not do justice.

Movies:
Closer - I watched this about a week ago and can barely remember it. Men are louts, women are liars, no one ever ends up happy. I think that about summed it up. Only I really did like the movie, so there must have something more to it.

Hotel Rwanda - Don Cheadle was amazing in this story of one man's heroics in the face of genocide. His hotel manager knew how to the tools of his trade - subtle bribery, quiet acknowledgment of powerful men, the value of a bottle of good Scotch - to combat the horror and atrocities that were crowding in on him and his family.

Star Wars #337 - there's better acting on the 11:00 PM local news, superior dialogue on General Hospital, more plot development on the Weather Channel. But other than that and the odd employment of the bad guys' need to blab all their techniques and secrets to the heroes, this is just stellar. So to speak. The one item that rang true, however, was the use of red light sabers by the villians and blue (or the occasional green) ones by the good guys. I guess the red state/blue state debate still rages in a galaxy far, far away.

Finding Neverland - Sweet and touching, a tribute to imagination and creativity. Too bad I watched this while the Michael Jackson trial was still running down the clock, having forever sullied the name Neverland.
