CURRENT MOON

Makuahine

Makuahine means "Mother" in Hawaiian.

Our makuahine has been here three days now. We adorned her with a purple orchid lei at the Lihue airport, and also brought her pineapple slices packed on ice for the 20 minute ride straight to the beach! At Kealia beach, we swam, sunned, and surfed.

Tuesdays in Waipa holds a Farmer's Market (past the second Hanalei Bridge), in the big green horse field. Here we bought salsa material, papayas, lilikoi (passionfruit) chiffon pie, and a giant $5 tropical flower bouquet!

Avocados Galore! Avocados originate in Central Mexico, and are now grown all over Mediterranean climates...and luckily for me, in my backyard on Kauai!!!!One Yummy Herbaceous Perennial! If ya want to get super botanical!!!

We then came back home to Princeville to show her the studio Jessica and I live in, then I went to work at the restaurant, while they sauntered around the Westin down the street. That was Day One for Mom.

Day Two, yesterday, we woke at sunrise for coffee and fruit bowls, then headed to Kanaha (a point of land, around the corner from Tunnels). This is the perfect place to go "shelling."

AM Shelling at Kanaha

Surfers, like Laird Hamilton, were doing tow-ins here at this little known beach, Kanaha. Then we went to Anini for some grueling relaxation.

Today big rain is predicted, so the Aloha ladies are all chit-chatting over coffee in bed for the moment...
while we also nticipate the remodel of my parents home!

...

(this is part of a letter I sent to my Father for an update on her arrival)
