I am very happy to have this new shirt for a couple of reasons. One is that I love the message it sends and I'm proud to agree with it, feel it, declare it. Another is that the shirt was designed by Stu's nephew David. I don't know David, although I know a lot about him. Given that Stu and I celebrated being together for 20 years back in December, i know about David. but I didn't know his politics or his passion. And this shirt says a lot.

The message on the shirt reads:

ROSA PARKS SAT SO MARTIN COULD WALK
MARIN WALKED SO OBAMA COUDL RUN
OBAMA RAN SO WE CAN FLY

Can I say I'm especially pleased and proud that someone mentioned Rosa Parks? She's "history" to so many people. I wasn't even two years old when Ms. Parks refused to give up her seat on that bus in Montgomery. It happened within my lifetime.

Which brings me to another name. John Lewis. That was John Lewis on the stage when President Obama was speaking. John Lewis who risked his life during the Freedom Rides, organized sit-ins, chaired SNCC. Who has represented Georgia in the US Congress for over twenty years. At the luncheon after the Inauguration, John Lewis asked President Barack Obama to sign a photo commemorating the event. And Obama wrote "Because of you, John. Barack Obama"

He knows. He gets it. He remembers and he honors it.

The shirt, shuld anyone else want to buy one, can be found at www.fratees.com/obamashirts. Tell 'em Stu and Andi sent you (ok, that would be dumb.)
