Got this from Kenny, who got this from Ariel.

The Rules

1. Leave me a comment saying, “Interview me.”
2. I will respond by asking you five questions, I get to pick the questions
3. You will update your journal with the answers to the questions
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions

Here are the questions Kenny asked me:

1) What is the coolest thing you've learned or uncovered in your work as an historian?

That is a really tough question (it's not like I have discovered anything of national importance). I tend to think of a historian as a detective, and finding connections between two seemingly random items is really neat. I also love reading old letters, diaries or meeting minutes. Because email and the telephone are so prominent in our world today, the art of letter writing has really been lost. It really is a shame.

On a personal note, it was pretty cool to go through old yearbooks and phonebooks here in Pensacola, and find early information and pictures of Charlie's grandparents.

2) What makes a great rock show? What about it really gets your blood moving?

I find the best rock shows are the ones where the band is having just as good a time as the audience is. Even if they aren't excellent and there are only 15 people in the audience, as long as the band is enjoying themselves, I always have a good time. It's when bands think that they deserve better that things often go downhill. I really don't think I have ever gone to a bad rock show, although I would have to say I have probably had a better time watching local bands vs. big time talent. Plus I really enjoy the intimacy of small clubs. Usually the band members are out there dancing and supporting each other, mingling with the "little people". All in all, a good time. :)

3) When and why did you develop your love of the Golden Age of Hollywood?

I'm not quite sure when I developed my love of the Golden Age of Hollywood, it's just ingrained in me. I love the whole look of the era, the sleek lines of the art deco design, the music, the movies, the fashions, the quality of the buildings built, and the over all opulence. Not to mention the amazing strides made in cinematography in such a short time. Even during the war, Hollywood did their part. Big stars went to war (some never came back)
(Hell, now a days no "big star" is gonna head over seas to fight. Even when we were looking for the bad guys in the right country, few stepped up to the plate.)

4) What's your absolute favorite memory of living on the 4th floor at Darkside? Or barring that... your absolutely favorite memory that is fit for public consumption. :)

I dunno if I can pick just one. There are way too many to list here. The best thing about living on the fourth floor was meeting everyone(You- and subsequently Thea, Kody, Odie, Tammy, Gary, and Peter) All of you guys remained a big part of my life throughout college (kind of hard not to when we all ended up working at the same job for the next three years). I cherish all the memories we made... Roof testing, Mortal Combat, X-files, Mustard Fights, Being reprimanded for being the loudest floor in the building, Puddle Jumping, "It's GAME DAY!!!!!", Taco Hell runs at 2am, and so many others...

5) Did you feel the earthquake we just had? Having been through the worst hurricane season in Florida, would you rather have hurricanes or earthquakes?

Hmmm... no I didn't feel the earthquake, and having never been through a big earthquake I don't know that I am actually qualified to answer that question. I will say this though. Hurricanes SUCK ASS!!!! Living without power for a full week, no phone or water for at least half of that time and being under a boil water warning when the water came back, is NO FUN! Especially since we have an electric stove. D'oh! Thank god for propane and charcoal.
