Thanks Kenny for worrying about me. As you said, I got the hell out of dodge on Friday and headed down to my grandmother's in Gainesville, and then on to Orlando, where my brother lives.

After sticking around for Ivan last September, we decided that we did NOT want to be stuck living without power for a week. Of course even when you leave, all you do is worry about what is happening at home.

Luckily, it seems that Pensacola didn't get nearly what it could have, but that's not to say everything is fine and dandy. Santa Rosa County got slammed (Pcola is right on the county line), and with the damage to the I-10 bridge during Ivan, Route 90 through Santa Rosa County is the only other way to cross the Escambia River to get to Pcola. They are telling everyone to stay away until at least Thursday so they can get supplies through and clear a path.

I will post another update when I return. If I can post some pictures, I will, although it won't quite convey the amazing power of mother nature. It's one thing to see it on the news and online, it is another thing to see it in person.
