Kill a plant (or two)

And replant a few more.

ok, so the tomato plant got damaged in fay (or maybe the one after that even though it was 200 miles east of us, still packed some winds) and the flowering vine i had fell prey to last year's frost (yes, it happened twice in Feb) because i didn't bring it in and because i live on the upstairs balcony with no wind break, there was no way i could just cover it up. i thought for sure, if i tried, my sheet would end up three parking lots away.

so i'm working on my patio plants. i have actually managed to keep the palm tree alive, but the planter is too small because it also has some sort of vine plant and a maroon colored plant, i have no idea what it is. i took a snipping and was trying to get it to root in water, but wasn't having any luck. so i gave a snipping to my green thumb next door neighbor, matt (omg, for some reason i thought his name was mark...embarrassing) and he's going to try to get it to root for me. gracious, the plants on his balcony are gorgeous. he has several nice flowering hanging plants and some really nice window box types of plants. i should take a photo of his little bench/trellis thing some time, as now he's added the vines to wrap around over the top of the bench.

in the meantime, i bought two pansy plants and i've already killed one of them. i did manage (yay me!) to save the other one. i also bought a nice tropical plant (that the instructions say should be a house plant, but as a smoker, i'll take my chances sitting it outside. it's a pretty plant and the leaves are green, red and yellow. it was also looking pretty sad, but as soon as i repotted it, it is coming back to life.

then, the other day, i went with pam to ace hardware (her mecca, but it's really the closest home improvement store next to us) and bought another one of those maroon plants, in case the other one dies. so the maroon plant and the pansy are now sharing a big pot.

and lordy, i almost killed an aloe vera plant. is that even possible? well, yes, when you don't water it or give it light, yes, yes it is. but i'm trying to revive it and i think it's coming back to life.

now i just need a few more plants, i'm thinking some sort of flowering cactus, because cactus are hard to kill...although, i did lose a cactus to the Feb frost as well.

i'd love to have another palm tree out there. they are sooooo easy to take care of (and so hard to kill) did you know there are like at least 100 different types of palms? who knew.

i'd really like some kind of herb garden, but those can be difficult, especially the ones i want to grow like chives and dill.

but maybe, we'll see.

and in the meantime, i'm spring cleaning in the fall. my friend and i hit both big lots (who was having a sale, but not much of one) and walmart for inexpensive frames. lucky me, pam ended up giving me a whole bunch of frames and i'm now trying to narrow my photos down to 9 prints to hang on my walls. three in my bedroom and 7 in the living room. i have at least one frame i painted black for my flower drawing i did, and i'm going to try to scare up another one for my beach drawing i did.

so that's where i'm at, beautifying my home, finally. z has expressed a desire to finally get on with his life and although i love him, i'm looking forward to just asche and i.
