Weird names

This topic deserved it's own entry, so here it is. On the car ride back from white water rafting, we somehow got on the topic of children's names. A story was told by someone in the car of a client this person has, who couldn't come up with a name she and her husband liked for her second son, and didn't want to name him after his dad, because then the older son might be resentful, so they named the baby Jon Mike after his brother Jonathan Michael. I find this so pathetically sad.

It gets worse, however. The person who told us this also worked at a hospital once where a child came for treatment, and the child's name, which this person saw written on her treatment paperwork, pronounced ab’-si-dē, was spelled Abcde.

This person also told us of a colleague who has a client whose children's names are pronounced lə-mahn-zhe’-lō and or-ahn-zhe’-lō. They are spelled Lemonjello and Orangejello. This is true. The colleague works with these children. She knows. OHMI-FRIGGIN-GOD!!!! Who names their children after a brand name gelatinous dessert???!!!

You know, I grew up in the Mendocino area, with people named Starlight and Forest and Raincrow and Sundance and Moonspirit.... But that was nothing compared to this. These names are both hysterically funny and also extraordinarily sad.

If you have any other weird names to add, please let me know.

P.S. There's a town in New Jersey named Cheesequake.
