A metal wire spoon-thingy for taking eggs out of boiling water (I think). A space blanket. A cheap, shiny, jingly bellydancer's belt. Some jewelry. What do these things have in common? Fish. Oh, yeah, one carved out of some weird stone, I think it was meant to be a bead? My mother has sent the belated xmas presents.

Deeply weird. I envision bellydancing on a cold winter's day and making hard-boiled eggs. Then I'll (carefully, it's got this sticky foam stuff on one side) wrap myself in my space blanket and try to come down off the acid. Whee.

It's the stuff that she threw in as extras from cleaning out the attic that, as always, blow me away. My Winnie the Pooh book, circa 1956. I knew Tigger used to look different! And a book, first edition, called "A Trip to the Panama Canal", published and purchased in 1911. Bad condition, though. My grandfather apparently was using it to store interesting clippings from a newspaper. From 1942. Items relating to Panama on one side, or bits of poetry, and half-articles about the Nazis on the other.

In other news, my copy of "Spellbound" only works on my computer, but it works. Now I just need to order a Nightmare by Telephone. :)

Currently Reading: _Slant_ by Greg Bear. Just finished: _The Dancer from Atlantis_ by Poul Anderson

Recommend: _The Dancer from Atlantis_ Minimalistic. Nice. Focused.

Books read this year: 2
