I've hit THAT point in the first draft of Angels Falling. THAT point is where I have a pretty good idea that I'm going to end in the next 75 or 100 pages and the momentum takes over. At the same time, I have some notions of what's wrong with it. It needs ... more.

Not more plot, I don't think. Just more. Richer, sharper, better descriptions. More character development. Stronger sense of place (without screwing up the pace too much). Double-checking details. Making sure everything is in the right order. Going deeper, especially with the characterizations. Working to make these people somebody can care about.

Brushing, tidying, cleaning, neatening, sharpening. When I finish the draft I'll take some time off from it so I can read it with fresh eyes. In the meantime, maybe another 100 pages or so. I'm in part 4, which is probably the last section.
