...before the plunge, I guess. Let me give you a bit of what's beeng going on the last 4 days and it might help explain yesterday's diatribe.

Picked up a new client for which I'll be editing their technical journal 4 times a year, at least if things work out. I'm already the editor of a technical journal, so I'm experienced. With the new folks, they warned me that this first issue would be troublesome. They then said, basically, we'll get all the materials to you on the 21st of October and it was with the understanding that I would have all the edited materials to the layout person on the 25th--today. Well, of course, due to the time changes, I received some of the materials very late on the 21st, which from my point of view meant the 22nd. Then I received some more on the 23rd. Then some more on the 24th. Then some more late on the 24th. In the meantime, the first client, the technical journal, I'm dealing with our first galley this week. And I'm going out of town for Magna cum Murder on Friday. And I had an eye doctor appointment today. And I ran out of fax toner. And I had a book talk at the Clarkston Rotary Club last night, so yesterday my workday started at 7:30 AM and ended around 8:30 PM and I spent large chunks of Saturday and Sunday editing...

It's good to be busy, and I did receive 4 paychecks yesterday, which were very, very welcome, but man, I'm spazzing out. I've got to get something off my desk ... so I'd better stop blogging and get to work.

Best,
Mark Terry
