Wow

An interesting evening tonight.

I went to the grocery store tonight, and bumped into a lady who knows my daughter. I was given probably one of the most amazing compliments a parent could ever wish for.

It goes like this.

The area where we live, the town is extremely racist, and that is an understatement. This lady I saw in the store is a black woman, who truly is one of the kindest people I have met here in this area. I have spoken to her on quite a few occasions and always walked away feeling good about our conversation. I dont know her well, but know her well enough to say Hi, how's the kids, that type of thing...

I guess my daughter had bumped into this lady at the mall or something, and my daughter had recognized her and greeted her with a smile and a "hi, how are you doing?" type of thing, and chatted with her for a few minutes. The acknowledgement and the kindness from my daughter really made an impact on her. Her exact words to me were,

"I am so glad your daughter is colorblind." She also said that my daughters friends were kinda shell shocked that my daughter stopped and talked to her.

I was pretty stunned to say the least, and felt quite proud of my daughter. I am so glad that she doesnt allow the prejudice of this area to taint her. Its so easy to fall into that peer pressure. Kudo's to the redhead for sticking true to who she is!!

On another note, daughter's boyfriend who recieved his license just 1 week ago got into a small accident tonight. When daughter called, she was a bit frantic and scared, but when we got there to pick her up, it was only cosmetic damage done to the car, and the kids were in one piece.

*****huge sigh*****

I think I need to invest into Clairol, cuz it seems I have a zillion new grey hairs to hide.
