We had an awesome day today!
Daughter had a parade she had to march in with the marching band, and that was absolutely fabulous. I dont know why I am so suprised each time I hear them play, but man, they are really really good! Poor kids marched over 4 miles in the hot sun, with 2 breaks in the parade so they could get water. They had to wear their full uniforms which are made for the colder weather. So they were quite overheated. After the parade and the Memorial Day Service, we packed up the cooler with food and water and went to Moon Lake for the day. We played Bocce Ball, my sons first time playing, and he was better than the rest of us!! At Moon Lake they have a reserved area where folks can fly their radio controled planes, so for a while we just laid in the field watching folks fly their planes and do all sorts of tricks with them. I also played some ball with the lil man, we took turns hitting, seeing who could hit the ball the farthest. Unfortunately, I lost one of his balls in the field, after looking for better part of an hour, we couldnt find it...I had to laugh when he said "dont worry ma, we didnt pay for that ball, the easter bunny brought it, remember?" He really cracks me up Then we headed down to the lake itself and Lil man fished for the first time. He had a riot casting and reeling in, he didnt catch anything and was a bit disapointed. Then off we went to get some ice-cream at Maureen's Ice-cream shop, the best in this valley here. The place was packed! Well worth the wait tho. After returning home, we all collapsed and watched "Pet Cemetary". I stepped out on my porch tonight at about 10:00 pm, our neighbor across the street, who is never outside at that time of night was on her porch too, she yelled over for me to come to her house...I honestly thought something was wrong with her husband... She informs me that she has a rather large bat in her house, and she's scared! So I went in grabbed the pillow case she had and I caught the bat, and brought it out to show her it wasnt that big. She squeeled and just told me to "get rid of the damn thing" so I let it loose and we watched it fly away. We stood on her porch talkin for a bit. She's one of those older types who really isnt all that friendly. It was nice to chat with her and get to know her a bit better. After living here for 7 years, I just found out tonight, her first name is Louise. So over all, its been a great day, even if I did get a bit chrispy fried from the sun. Time for me to go smell like a dill pickle, seems that vinegar is the only thing that really takes out the sting in the sunburn... Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
