I have this one very dear friend of mine, he is probably one of the most outstanding people I know. We were initially co-workers, and when you end up spending 40+ hours a week with someone, you end up getting to know them, sometimes better than your own family.

Laurence is a breed of his own. Loyal, kind, witty, sensitive, sweet, and generous to a fault. I loved working with him, we always made work fun. When I was pregnant with my son and was quite sick, Laur would tell me to go home early, and he would stay the shift for me, I would get paid for my full shift, he wouldnt get paid overtime. He never once pulled the "you owe me" crap, if anything, he would say on occasion "I havent been a very good friend to you" which would stun the hell out of me.

It was hard when we moved down to PA, not only leaving my hometown and family, but, leaving my friends. Laur by far knows more about me, has been around my good moods, my bad moods and everything in between and is still my friend. I am forever grateful for people like him in my life.

There are times I sit back and look at the friends I have made here in PA since we moved here, lots of them are the fly by night kinda friend, I can think of 2 people that I have known since I moved down here that I still talk to, and we've lived here for 8 years. Even tho Laurence and I live 150+ miles apart, we talk very often, we know the ins and outs of whats going on in each others lives, distance didnt pull us apart, in some ways it pulled us closer.

What inspired this post? Bumping into a person here in PA who was a friend of mine, but due to bad choices on her part, the friendship fell to the wayside. Parts of me miss her, but the other part, the sane part says good riddance.


It made me realize, true friends, no matter the distance in miles are very close to our hearts.
