2008-10-30 7:38 AM Sharing a part of Kentuckypine Read/Post Comments (1) |
Hi folks,
I have not posted in a while, as I have been working some crazy hours and have not had time to update. I also have been working on a project to convert some of my mothers old articles from PDF files to text files, and thought I would share one with you all. I will try to post a new one each day! POST-STANDARD July 6,1974 My Weird World by Audrey (kentuckypine) I HAD THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS scared out of me yesterday. Know what happened? I came home, and my 16-year-old lady resident, Annetta, had just cleaned her room. Now, as any mother of a teen-age daughter knows, that's just plain frightening. I didn't ask her to do it. I didn't tell her to do it. I didn't even threaten her to get it done. She just did it. Well, to all things there is a reason and a season, and apparently this is the mating season. Seems that "Wonderful Wilfred'* called and invited our "sweet sixteener" out for the evening. I know, and she knows that I know, that if she doesn't start making some effort around this house, "Wonderful Wilfred" will have to settle for "Agnes Acne" for his weekend date. ITS NOT THAT HER FATHER is demanding. Quite the contrary, he is almost reluctant to look into her room. But, he does occasionally like to walk through the front hallway without the use of a bulldozer. As I said, he seldom looks into the children's rooms. Something he keeps muttering about "above and beyond the call of duty. But, when he does peer inside, and immediately after the nausea leaves him, he has been known to make a few not so quiet suggestions to the people living in those rooms. ANYWAY, THE WHOLE POINT of this thing is that I resent it when a kid goes ahead and does something without being told. It throws my metabolism off for weeks. Since the good Lord saw fit to make me a member of motherhood, the least he could do is instruct "Miss Sixteen" to save me from such shocks such as 1 suffered yesterday. After all, she's the oldest with four more pulling up in the rear. I don't know how much my metabolism can stand. Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
