Director: Jaume Collet-Serra This movie was not at all what I thought it would be. I head heard it was a decent indie horror flick, but it's much more than that. What it seems like on the surface is your typical evil-child movie. Family adopts girl, girl is not what she seems, girl starts murdering people, looks like the adopted an evil child. Nope. It might seem that way for most of the movie, but there's a twist at the end of the movie that changes everything. Because the twist makes the movie what it is, it's not something I'm going to reveal here. The acting is top notch, especially Esther - while I'm sure most child actors can play a bad kid roll, having to play a role as complex as this is impressive of any child actor. The plot seems on the surface to be a typical horror movie, but the twist makes it so much more than that. There really isn't anything else out there like this. The twist makes it completely unique. That being said, this is also a hard R rated movie. I would not recommend it to anyone under the age of 17. There's a reason this is rated R and while with some movies parents can play loose with that rating, this is not one of them. I do highly recommend this film, but for the adult crowd only. If you're a horror movie fan, you need to see this film. The ending is absolutely brilliant. My rating: Four out of five snails. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
