More potential energy
Previous Entry :: Next Entry

Sometimes I feel like my writing career is building up so much potential energy that I will explode in an atomic-worthy blast instead of my planned quiet entry into the field.

I had a director friend look at Spacetime (the series) pilot episode one (titled "Through the Looking Glass" for those keeping track). I wanted a director's point of view for review. He received it with great enthusiasm, and an offer of assistance. Once the package is ready, he's willing to give it a once-over (especially with regards to pitching it to SciFi). He's also willing to bring it to another exec at SciFi, and recommend Spacetime to a well-vetted, successful showrunner (who happens to be between projects at this time).

Currently, Spactime's pitch packet has episode one (pilot, part one) completed. Episode two (pilot, part two) is mostly written (first draft). I have a first draft of my character bios, and a list of potential episodes that I have to look at again, because I think I now hate most of them. I also have the first draft of a really cool logo to put on the cover page of the packet.

I've been writing every night on Spacetime, no matter how much or how little time I've been able to sit in front of the computer. I'm also now working on it during my free lunches, and it's also on my brain during my workout lunches. One of the things my spin class instructor encourages us to do is visualize what we want, both out of our workout as well as life.

My vision is crystal clear. It may be in the distance, it's definitely on a shelf that most people don't get to without first climbing a ladder, but I know exactly what it looks like.

It looks like a career.
