Pondering

I just finished a nasty arbitration enforcement hearing, which took several full days of preparation. Bleah. We lost, although I made the other attorneys work for their victory. For those of you who don't know, enforcing arbitration clauses is something courts (state and federal) love to do. So, any attempt to set aside an arbitration clause is an enormous challenge. Nonetheless, I almost convinced the judge to void the clause. So, close....

I've been thinking a lot about pay rates for Lone Star Stories. I'd love to pay $.05 a word for fiction and poetry, but I really can't afford to toss that kind of money at stories and poems right now. I have also considered reducing the number of works I accept and increasing the pay rate accordingly, but I don't know if that will work either. Any change won't occur for another couple of months, regardless.

I need to find a market for a story, and I am drawing a blank. I think I'll go peruse Ralan's site for a possibility.
