Taking a Chance

I've decided to send a somewhat soft science fiction tale of 800 words, "Resistentialism and Regret," to Analog. I don't expect a positive response due to the nature of the market (2000-7000 words preferred for short fiction and hard science fiction preferred as well), but I need to get used to the idea of submitting fiction to markets where there's only a remote chance of interest. You never know what might strike a chord with an editor, and not sending a story means a zero chance of acceptance, as versus a merely remote chance.

I sent off an electronic version of "Counting Zeppelins" to Jay Lake for his editorial review. I'm curious to see what sort of changes he and David Moles will request for the tale before publication.

I had planned on getting a little writing done this evening, but a family trip to San Antonio wore me out. Heck, I didn't even have the energy to read my newly purchased Steven Brust book, Lord of Castle Black. Not reading one of my favorite authors shows just how tuckered out I am at present....
