A Week of Writing

I decided, after reviewing it last night, to put aside revival of my college novel fragment. It needs to be rewritten completely from scratch, and that requires more than a week. I will instead to revise/expand a 5700 word story. So far, I've cut the last 2000 words of the story, and it's already healthier for it. Now I have to decide where to take the story.

I added 2800 words to another story of mine yesterday, then sent it off to Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine for editorial evisceration. I also wrote three new poems over the past few days: an "end of the world" tanka (a haiku with two extra 7 syllable lines); a "magic and nature strike back" free verse piece; and an experimental, sci-fi-social commentary poem. I'm not so sure about the tanka (it's my first one), but the other two feel strong. Hopefully, the markets I sent them to will agree.

On the fiction submissions front, Lenox Avenue is toying with my expectations by holding a flash piece of mine for twelve days and counting. The editors are probably on vacation.

No real news for Lone Star Stories. I still need two stories for the October issue, but I have a month and a half to find them.

That's it for news. Back to writing for me.
