Channeling: Insanity, Boingo

I got to hear "Insanity" again on Saturday after not hearing it for several years. I forget what a great song it is and what an awesome band Boingo was. I miss them. Jupiter got to go see them at their farewell concert - on Holloween, with a children's choir singing the harmony on "Insanity." Lucky bastard.

Saturday I got to go hang out with Jupiter, Squire and Janet (not her real name). It would have been super-fun except that Janet was getting really, REALLY ear-splittingly loud. To counter-act this I got really quiet. Which always makes Jupiter nervous. *sighs* just can't win.

I'm looking forward to going camping this weekend. Unfortunately the site is a spot on a beach in Santa Barbara County practically under a highway overpass. I miss camping a lot but part of what I miss so much about it is the silence. Sometimes the noise of civilization can get so deeply under my skin that it makes me want to throw tantrums to get away. I look forward to going somewhere where I don't hear motors running, telephones beeping, computer fans going, the hum of refrigerators or the high-pitched whine of TVs and monitors.

Sometimes it feels like I can only find sanity when complete silence is pressing on my ears, when I have to focus on dim, unidentified sounds to make sure I haven't gone deaf. I doubt I'll be able to get that this weekend. Besides the highway, I'll be up there with a lot of people making a lot of noise. I should probably look some stuff up about Beltaine.

Let's imitate reality. (Insanity!)
Let's strive for mediocrity. (Insanity!)
Let's make believe we're all the same. (Now that's for me!)
Let's sanitize our little brains. (Insanity!)
