Things Good and Not Good

This is mostly idle thoughts from yesterday but it's also a good update. If you're not sure what I'm referring to feel free to let me know.

1. went shopping today. A few but not many good things found at Sears. Much not good at Hot Topic. The latest joke there is labeling things one size larger than they are. The XLs are total lies. And I'm still mourning the loss of Torrid.

2. Got a trackball mouse for my mom since she never got around to telling me what she actually wanted for her birthday (not that it kept her from nagging me over email to come to church with her tomorrow) at Best Buy. Sadly they only had one model and not the one I was hoping for. Got a cable to try to play music from MP3 to stereo and then found my boombox doesn't have an audio-in. Will see if it works on my stereo before trying to return it.

3. I'm swiftly learning to hate spring and summer fashions. I don't like wearing pastels. I don't like showing my upper arms or chest. In general I like shopping for autumn or winter much better. Clothes typically come in solid dark colors like "ivy" or "cranberry" instead of "dusk rose" or "spring mist" and are supposed to be baggy which help with...ah...hiding. So having to shop now is annoying. glad it's overwith.

4. Actually found a Curves open on a Sunday not a Saturday, unfortunately it's maybe five miles from where I usually wake up Sunday mornings and only open until 10am.

5. Taxes were accepted but now I have to file some extra form sent in by snail mail so they can deduct the money from my accounts. Which really just defeats the purpose of e-filing if you ask me. Not mention I still have to yell at Smith Barney and figure out if I'm really ever going to get the missing form.

6. You can't do Web searches on Overture.com anymore. That makes me really sad. Effective immediately my work email address is changed. Email me if you want the new one, it'll still get forwarded for the next month or probably more.

7. started to organize stuff for the President game but got to it late and pretty didn't want to. Started to curse myself for ever having thought of it when CR showed up and distracted me with yummy talk of comic books.

8. holy crap I'm up late.

9. Got to a party last night that was a fundraiser for Faultline theatre company. The head director lady is HOT. I would add she's intimidating, but that's really part of her hotness as far as I'm concerned. Got to talk to the ADs who are cool people and very friendly and eager to help a girl get her soul back. One of them was once on One Life to Live, the other one is super helpful and very dedicated to seeing theatre flourish in LA. Me like.

10. Did not get to the Meetup on Thursday though I did try because the organizer personally emailed me. Found out she's closely associated with an agency trying to "help" actors get networked. Could be good for actors, maybe. Not sure it's really good for me.

11. Still haven't emailed HFC people. *looks embarassed*

12. Stuff I didn't get to include talking to someone about how my computer can't talk to my camera anymore and therefore it just gives me a blank stare when I ask it to download images from the cmera chip. Didn't download WMP 10 so I still don't have SUPER SEKRIT INGREDIENT X so [info]regohemia's mixes remain as vague notes. Didn't get any reading done or get the car washed.

13. bought a pair of reading glasses for myself. I'm sick of reading for five minutes and then my eyes get tired. they're the mini-half-glass thingies. Full on librarian-glasses-down-the-nose-must-peer-over-them-to-see-you look. Not really crazy about them but if I can read for a bit without feeling like I have sand in my eyes that will be good.

14. much half assed pondering about how my politics have changed in my life but it's way too late tonight to discuss it.

15. could not for the life of me find simple, casual black tennis shoes/sneakers/whatever. I can either get high performance, expensive athletic shoes, fancier, dressier shoes, or some godawful form of mule-type shoe. I just want black shoes I can walk long distances or even run in whether I'm wearing nice slacks or jeans.

16. honestly didn't "miss" the game tonight. But I did miss the people who may or may not have been there.

17. Found Seasons 1 for both Voltron and Gargoyles are available on Amazon, though Voltron is only on VHS. I'm thinking the second I get back from the trip East that Gargoyles boxed set is MINE.

18. Still formulating what I want do do while out East but I'd like to get really drunk at least once. I'd like to dance too but that's harder. I guess I can wait on that get my fill in at Bar Sinister or maybe even Miss Kitty's (their music sucked for the most part but it's hard to beat the atmosphere). Got a travel book with walking tours for New York. Ought to be cool.

19. Mildly stressed by the notion of having to haul ass after the game Friday (Hail to the Chief) to Pasadena and then Ontario and leave the car there in long term parking until the day after I return. Debating planning on breaking speed limits to get to Long Beach after Pasadena and then have the boy drive me to Ontario. Cheaper and less stress once I return, but requires moving damned fast and allows for no miscalculations or unexpected delays. }:/
