Today was a lazy day. After setting up and entertaining four guests yesterday for Passover, Berek and I were bushed! Berek couldn't even stay awake long enough last night to watch Bruce Springsteen on VH1. BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN! What kind of fan is he? LOL. Anyway, we had a great night, albeit tiresome. I made from scratch:
Honey Marinated Chicken
Apple Cake Streusel
Haroset (which we dip Matzo bread into)
Matzo Balls (although, Berek helped)

It was the first time we actually have had a dinner party and entertained people. At least now we know we can put on a good dinner and also hold about 6 people total in our apartment comfortably.

The food came out beautifully! Especially, the apple cake. It was a really good recipe we found online. :D

In any case, after cooking and cleaning all day and then cleaning and putting things away (plus, laundry) we were exhausted. I woke up at about 10 this morning and Berek got up at 9. He finished washing dishes this morning and then we decided to head on out to run some errands.

Our first stop was Robbins Brothers. We had been looking for Berek's wedding ring. We've seen a few different types that we thought were nice, but yesterday (while he was browsing online) we found "the one ring". It is a black titanium ring with a pressure set .13 carat diamond. It has twin gold channels running parallel with each other and is absolutely perfect! We both looked to each other and said, "That's the one!" We happened to note that online at another site (because Robbins Brothers didn't have prices listed) that this ring went for $440.00. SO when we saw that the one at Robbins Brothers was running for $875.00 we were a bit shocked. But with some help from the sales clerk we were able to observe why that was. So we're pretty set on getting that ring from Robbins Brothers. She was very nice and very honest. We could tell. We've hit places that have had some real hardball sellers and she wasn't playing that game with us and for good reasons. Their jewelry is very good quality. She showed us a few pieces she had bought from other jewelry stores she worked at and the quality of the diamonds were clearly not as good. They weren't as shiny, nor as pretty. We looked at the diamond on his ring under the laboratory gemscope and saw how brilliant and sparkly it was. She even had us compare one of her rings with it and they weren't as brilliant. In any case, we know it's the right ring, but right now finances aren't set up for such a large purchase. So, we're going to wait a little and I'm going to put away some money for it.

So yeah, that's the ring. Nice huh? :D

After Robbins Brothers we went tripping to the Sherman Oaks Fashion Square. I went to Sephora and got a couple of new eyeshadows and a mascara. I was going to buy a black one, but we don't go clubbing enough to justify spending $15 bucks on it. So I stuck with glittery blue and silver. We were going to buy some more philosophy shampoos but decided we're actually not going through them as quickly as we thought we were. So we're going to hold off. Then we headed to Disney Store where I got my mom a Nemo Antenna Topper! It is really cute and she likes collecting those. I saw a really cute Tinkerbell nightgown there, but for $20 bucks it wasn't worth it.

Wandering along the mall we stopped into Lane Bryant. They have a lot of new cute things. I just can't believe how expensive a shirt is! I mean it was nice and pretty, but for $35 it was a bit much. I may wait until it goes on sale. There were some other things that I saw, but they didn't look as good on me. Especially, some of the sale pieces. Oh well.

We ate some Wetzel dogs after we saw a couple of people eating them. It's been a long time since we've had one. THEY ARE SO GOOD! Woot! And God said, "Let there be Wetzel dogs!" I mean they really are heavenly. So after that we pretty much decided we were done wandering. But I saw that there was a Lenscrafters there, so I asked Berek, "Will you come in with me to look at the types of things they have?" He was very reluctant, but still he went in with me. We looked at different frames, but Berek was very sad. A salesman came by and he asked if we needed help. I explained that we were just looking, but that I was trying to help Berek ease into the idea of wearing glasses. He had suggested that we look at the "frameless" ones on the other wall. So we did, and he tried some on. We found some good styles that he liked and that looked great on him. I even found some that I liked. We checked on how much eye exams would be and they're only $35 without dialating the eyes, but it's $65 with dialating the eyes (including AAA discount). So we're looking at doing the eye exams on Wednesday after I get out of school. We may not be able to buy our frames right off the bat, but at least we'll have a prescription. But we'll see.

So now here we are, at home and Berek is fiddling with my computer, so that I can play City of Heroes with him at the same time. I can't wait. But the computer may not work with the software so we may have to buy a new one. (Ah, money seems to be leaking out of our ears!)
