You may be asking what the hell is a cat so fascinated in a toilet for, well, I'm sorry to say, but I don't have the answer to that question.

Hal, my 3-year old black neutered male kitty has always had a fascination with the bathroom in general. He's always jumped in the tub, whether it's in use or not. He always has to be in the bathroom whenever someone is trying to use it, if he isn't given access to the bathroom while you're in it, you're in trouble. He'll scratch at the door until your ears bleed. Then you simply have to let him in.

Since we've moved in, we thought it was a great idea to have the litter box in the bathroom. We all use the bathroom for the same reasons. Hal has since found his life long passion is to examine all the workings of the bathroom, especially those that use water. He sits and stares at the toilet (especially if someone is on it). He paws at the back of it and then looks at you.

After you've finished conducting business with the Porcelain God (or Goddess), and you flush, he immediately tries to jump in. (His other hobby includes chasing water down the drain in the wash basin and watch it drip off of you when you come out of the shower) I don't think anyone has told him, he doesn't want to jump into the water (don't cats hate it?) with human excrement (aren't cats some of the cleanest creatures alive?).

In any case, now, he's figured out how the water goes down the hole in the toilet. He has actually watched it enough times to know that the little silver doohickey is what controls the water. So what did he do? He flushed the toilet. Oh, I swear he had the look of pure joy. Maybe he hates water so much he's trying to learn how to control it, I dunno. All I know, is my cat is smarter than most dogs I know. I think he's only allowing me to type this right now because he wants other cats out there to know:

He knows the secret of the Porcelain God (or Goddess) and he's not afraid to use it!
